Plum City was settled in 1857 by French and American Indian fur traders, and laid out and platted in the same year by Frank Moser and Stephen K. Gates. The name "Plum City" was inspired by the abundance of plum trees that lined Plum Creek and the surrounding valleys.

Employment Opportunity
The Village of Plum City is seeking an individual for the position of Street Maintenance Supervisor. Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent with a valid driver’s license with CDL certification and air brake endorsement. Candidates must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing/walking or sitting for long periods of time, and tolerate extreme weather conditions. Candidate must be familiar with the operation of dump trucks, snowplows, pay loaders, bobcats and other heavy equipment. Candidate must become knowledgeable as to the basic operation of the Plum City Wastewater Treatment Plant, sewer lines, lift stations, and the sewer collection system and complete the necessary Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator training (paid by the Village) within one year of hire. Candidate will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and physical and must pass a background check. Candidate must be able to respond to an emergency within 15 minutes.
